Quick answer

To book a flight with Fareobuzz, call 1-888-620-4018 and give the agent your route, travel dates and passenger count. The agent searches airline inventory across domestic and international carriers, presents options, and quotes the full price — airline fare, taxes and the Fareobuzz service fee shown separately. Payment is taken only after you approve the total, and a confirmation with your airline record locator is emailed immediately.

Service fees are $75 per domestic ticket, $100 per international ticket and $100 for business or first class, and are non-refundable once ticketed. Prices quoted by a Fareobuzz agent are inclusive of the airline fare, any airline change or cancellation fee, and the Fareobuzz agency service fee — unless the agent states specifically that the quoted fare excludes the service fee. Fareobuzz is an independent travel agency, not an airline.

What flight booking costs

Fareobuzz earns money in two transparent ways: a per-ticket service fee that you are told about before you pay, and in some cases a commission paid to us by the supplier. We never add an undisclosed markup to the fare an agent reads out to you.

Ask this on any travel call, anywhere: "What is the total I will be charged today, and what part of that is your fee?" A legitimate agency answers immediately and in specific dollars. If a caller-facing business will not itemize before taking your card, hang up.

When to book for the best fare

There is no universal 'cheapest day' to buy a ticket — that idea is largely a myth created by averaging across millions of unrelated routes. What genuinely moves the price is how far ahead you buy relative to your specific route's demand curve, and how flexible you are on timing.

General booking windows by trip type
Trip typeTypical best windowNotes
Domestic US, off-peak1–3 months aheadTuesday/Wednesday departures usually price lower than Friday/Sunday

Europe, shoulder season2–4 months aheadLate April–May and September–October offer the best value
Europe, peak summer4–7 months aheadJune–August fares rarely drop late

Flexibility is worth more than timing tricks

  • Shift by one day. Departing a Tuesday instead of a Friday can change the fare materially on the same route.
  • Consider nearby airports. EWR instead of JFK, MDW instead of ORD, OAK instead of SFO — the agent will price all of them.
  • Accept one stop. A single connection often reduces long-haul fares significantly versus nonstop.
  • Split the ticket carefully. Sometimes two one-ways beat a round-trip, but this breaks airline protection if the first leg is delayed. Agents weigh this for you.

Travel agency vs booking online: an honest comparison

We are an agency, so treat this as our view — but it is an accurate one, and knowing when not to call us saves everyone time.

What to have ready before you call

  • Full legal names exactly as printed on passport or ID
  • Dates of birth for every traveler
  • Passport number and expiry for international trips
  • Preferred dates plus how flexible you can be
  • Frequent flyer numbers if you want miles credited
  • Seat, bag and meal needs including mobility assistance
Name accuracy matters more than anything else on this list. Airline tickets are issued to the name given at booking. Correcting a misspelled name after ticketing ranges from a small fee to a full reissue at current fare. Spell each name letter by letter to the agent.

Changes, cancellations and refunds

This is the area travelers most often misunderstand, so here is the plain version.

Who controls what

Once a ticket is issued, the airline's fare rules govern whether it can be changed, whether it can be refunded, and what that costs. Fareobuzz cannot override those rules — no agency can. What we do is process the request correctly, argue your case where there is discretion, and handle the paperwork.

The 24-hour rule

Under US Department of Transportation regulation, for flights touching the United States booked at least seven days before departure, you may cancel within 24 hours of booking for a full refund. Fareobuzz honors this and waives our own handling fee inside that window.

When the airline cancels

If the airline cancels or significantly changes your flight and you choose not to accept the alternative, DOT rules entitle you to a refund to your original payment method — even on a non-refundable ticket. Call us and we will file it.

Refund timing is set by the airline, not by us. Card refunds are typically processed within seven business days of the airline approving them; some international carriers take considerably longer. We will give you the airline's reference number so you can track it independently. — 1-888-620-4018

Frequently asked questions

How do I book a flight with Fareobuzz?

Call 1-888-620-4018 and give the agent your departure city, destination, dates and number of travelers. The agent searches airline inventory, presents options, and quotes the total price including taxes and the Fareobuzz service fee. Payment is taken only after you approve, and you get an emailed confirmation with your airline record locator.

Is it cheaper to book flights through a travel agency or online?

It depends on the itinerary. For a simple domestic round-trip, online prices and agency prices are usually close. Agencies tend to win on complex itineraries — multi-city routes, mixed-carrier international trips, business class, group bookings and last-minute changes — because agents can combine fare types and negotiated contract fares that public search engines do not display. Always compare the total including fees.

What is the Fareobuzz flight service fee?

Our flat per-ticket service fee is $75 for domestic flights, $100 for international flights, and $100 for business or first class. Prices quoted by a Fareobuzz agent are inclusive of the airline fare, any airline change or cancellation fee, and the Fareobuzz agency service fee — unless the agent states specifically that the quoted fare excludes the service fee. Service fees are non-refundable once a ticket is issued. See Fees and Service Charges for the full schedule.

Can I book a one-way or multi-city flight?

Yes. We book one-way, round-trip, open-jaw and multi-city itineraries. Multi-city routing is where a phone agent is most useful, because pricing several segments together often costs less than booking each leg separately.

Can I hold a fare before paying?

Some airlines allow a short hold on certain fare classes; many do not. The agent will tell you whether a hold is available on your specific itinerary. Where no hold exists, the fare is not guaranteed until the ticket is issued — airfare inventory changes minute to minute.

What happens if my flight is cancelled by the airline?

Call 1-888-620-4018 and our agent will work the rebooking with the airline for you. When an airline cancels a flight, US Department of Transportation rules entitle you to a refund to your original form of payment if you choose not to travel on the alternative offered — regardless of whether the ticket was non-refundable.

Do you book flights for infants and unaccompanied minors?

Yes. Infant-in-lap and infant-in-seat fares differ by airline and route, and unaccompanied minor service requires airline-specific paperwork and a fee paid to the carrier. Tell the agent the ages of all travelers at the start of the call so the correct fare type is used.

Can I use airline miles or a travel credit through Fareobuzz?

Award redemptions and airline travel credits are generally handled directly with the airline that holds them, because they are tied to your frequent flyer account or original ticket. If you have a credit from a ticket originally issued by Fareobuzz, call us and we will apply it.

How far in advance should I book a flight?

For domestic US travel, roughly one to three months ahead tends to produce the best balance of price and choice. For international travel, two to six months. Peak periods — Thanksgiving, Christmas, summer to Europe and India — should be booked earlier. These are general patterns, not guarantees; fares fluctuate by route and season.

Do you charge to change or cancel a flight?

Fareobuzz charges a $50 handling fee for processing a flight change or cancellation. Fees charged by airlines, hotels, cruise lines and car rental companies are separate from the Fareobuzz service fee and are set by those suppliers, not by us. Any airline change fee or fare difference is quoted to you before we act. Within the DOT 24-hour window on eligible bookings, we do not charge our handling fee.
